Arcadia
We commune with the natural environment, often with goal of finding tranquility and (re)connecting to ourselves as sentient beings; we seek to release from our thoughts and discover our inner realm. Nature, viewed as pristine, organic, lovely, is often seen as something we have lost touch with. These associations with nature as the site of exquisite peace and beauty are also evident in our manner of using natural motifs in fabrics and decorations to adorn ourselves and our living spaces.
The interiors, like the portraits, express an existential distance from the natural world. I am interested in the mirroring of the mental and physical interior and exterior spaces of the people and places in the pictures.
